I Need A Way To Remember That Some Common Boating Rules. Like A Phrase Or Something Any Ideas?

Pan Pan = A vessel is in trouble but no in immediate danger,
Securite = A Navigational safety message, such as weather
And a way to remember that:
Cardinal markers are:
North: 2 cones pointing up
South: 2 Cones pointing Down
East: 2 cones pointing away from each other
West: 2 cones pointing towards each other.
Any ideas?

FOr cardinal buoyage, think of a wine glass. West and Wine both start with W. East must be the opposite. North and south are self explanatory.
The day shape for vessels constrained by her draft is a black cylinder. Sort of looks like a can of “draft” beer.
Vessels meeting. Green to green, red to red in perfect safety come ahead. Refers to the side lights of the vessels.

    I Know a few…..
    North cardinal mark=2 up(pointing north)
    South cardinal mark=2 down(pointing south)
East cardinal mark=top up bottom down…draw a line from the top going along the left hand side and into the gap it looks like an E for east
    W= the other 1 left
Port and starboard colours= the captain LEFT his RED PORT behind…starboard is the only colour left
when passing another vessel right is right( i.e the right(starboard) side of your vessel should pass to the other vessels right….therefore right(hand side) is right
If i think of any more i’ll get back to you

  3. works 4 me says:

2cone and the NEWS = North East West South
pan pan = peter pan trouble
what ever you feel comfy with, your the 1 who has to remember these things

  4. jtexas says:

The only one I know is: Red Right Returning (put the red channel markers to your starboard side when the sea is at your stern).

    When in danger
    or in doubt
    Run in circles
    Scream and shout.
